The Year 2016 Is Dying, Say Your Goodbyes

Today, we were told some awful news: 2016 is passing away. 2016 played a variety of roles for so many of us: a loving mother, a grandson we could brag about to our book club, a child we objectively love more than the others. It breaks our hearts to see a year so meaningful, die so young. It seems only right to impart some heartfelt words to a year that brought ample emotion into our lives and that we all held so close.

Standing by 2016’s bedside, gently stroking its face, we say, “Goodbye current holiday season. Goodbye Fall semester of university. Goodbye weird chapter in political and social climate. Goodbye Stephen Colbert wearing kitten ears.  We will miss you.”
